Summer Terrace at the Barbican Bar & Grill

Enjoy food, English wines and cocktails on our Summer Terrace at Barbican Bar & Grill, an idyllic retreat on Level 1 of the Barbican Centre, providing the perfect place for an alfresco dining experience in the City of London.

Whether you’re after a long, lazy lunch, after-work drinks, or a nightcap after a show, the terrace is open for walk-ins now.

Alfresco Dining at our Central London Terrace

Enjoy fresh, bold flavours on our outdoor terrace, a lakeside retreat tucked within the Barbican Estate, right in the centre of London. It’s a rare thing in central London: open skies, cascading greenery, and the calm of the lake, all a few steps from Silk Street, the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat.

All our menus embrace fresh seasonal British produce. Whether you’re settling in for a long lunch, catching up over sharing plates, or grabbing a bite before a show, our terrace is one of the City of London’s best spots for outdoor terrace dining.

Cocktails made for the terrace

Our cocktail list is built for lingering. The BBG Negroni, with Tanqueray, Campari, and sweet vermouth, is the classic order. The Camomile Old-Fashioned is gentler, made with camomile-infused Johnnie Walker and a nod to slower afternoons.

Not drinking? The Garden Tonic with Seedlip Spice 94, elderflower, and cucumber was made for our terrace, one of the best spots to enjoy cocktails outdoors in central London.

Wine, beer, and something sparkling on the terrace

Beyond the cocktails, our drinks list covers a lot of ground. Whites run from a crisp Albariño from Rías Baixas to a Languedoc Chardonnay from Gérard Bertrand. For sparkling, the Searcys English Classic Cuvée, made with Surrey vineyards, is the natural terrace choice. We also pour Camden Hells and Pale Ale on draught. For wine bars in central London with an outdoor terrace to match, Barbican Bar & Grill is hard to beat this summer.

About our Central London Terrace

The Summer Terrace offers a tranquil retreat from the bustle of central London. Surrounded by cascading greenery and lakeside views, the setting strikes a unique contrast between lush, living garden and the iconic brutalist architecture that defines the Barbican Estate, making it one of the most distinctive places to enjoy long, leisurely lunches, beautifully made cocktails, or a refreshing glass of wine over after-work drinks. No booking needed, just turn up.
